Today’s news delivers a measure of relief to millions of Palestinians who have endured over 15 months of accelerated horror and inhumanity at the hands of Israel and its imperial benefactors.

Our hearts are with our beloved community in Gaza and all Palestinians. If the ceasefire is implemented, many may soon be searching for missing loved ones; burying family, friends, and neighbors; and taking stock of homes and cities ravaged by one of the most destructive bombing campaigns in history.

Ceasefire does not mark the end of genocide. The genocidal conditions Israeli forces have created in Gaza — mass displacement, ecocide, starvation, domicide, destruction of the health system, and more — must be urgently ameliorated.

Undoubtedly, Israel and its imperial accomplices will continue the oppressive agenda that led up to this catastrophe and made Gaza “unliveable” long before this genocide. As Palestinians experience the ramifications of genocide and decades of oppression, the struggle for liberation continues.

We remain resolute in calling for the true end of genocide, a military embargo against Israel, and the dismantling of apartheid across historic Palestine. It will take all of us to insist on a transformation to a just future, not a reconstruction of the oppressive past.

The last 15 months have irrevocably altered us. We will not forget. We will build a movement stronger than our grief, rooted in our understanding of the Palestinian struggle as a decolonial project. We will maintain a posture of revolutionary hope, until Palestine is free.

Onward in struggle.
